Good news from the doctor. My hemoglobin is in the 13 range which is close to low normal, white counts and neutraphils are in normal range, and my platelets are 72000 As it stands now I am on the path for two more weeks here, then home with a doctor visit to Chicago every two weeks. Sounds like a deal to me. I weighed in at 152 a new low for me:( Dr. Olga said my weakness is normal, even more so because of the pneumonia last time. They are taking me off of magnesium because I have been running to the bathroom lately and oral magnesium can cause that. So Betty will be my picc line nurse and my infusion nurse. I will get magnesium through an IV until the tacrolimus (anti rejection drug) is tapered down. So even though I feel weak, everything is going well, Dr. Olga is very pleased with where my numbers are at 31 days after the transplant.
God Bless
Scott
When we were at the doctor we ran into Eileen and Paul, fellow real housewife of Prentice and her hubby who is at day 76 post Stem Cell Transplant. Paul is doing fantastic, which is an inspiration and Eileen told me that although we cannot contact the donor for 1 year, we and YOU can send him a thank you note. We don't know his name (jokingly call him Donor Dan) but if you want to write him a thank you and get it to us before next Monday, I will bring them to the transplant coordinator who passes them along to the Donor. What a wonderful thing. There are NO words for the gratitude to this man that I feel. Tearing up just typing this. All we know is he if from the USA and 35 years old.
If you care to send the note to us at

Please either put it inside an extra envelope or mark the envelope on the outside "For Donor Dan"
Like Scott posted, numbers are good, weight is an issue, but we are on track to come home in a couple of weeks. We were at the doctor from 8:30 till noon so Scott is tired. Please say a prayer that he regains his appetite and gets the nutrition that he needs to gain strength. Thank you everyone.
Betty

Terrific news! I apologize that while I was not able to participate and donate blood in Scott's honor, I would, however, be more than happy to donate a pound or thirty for his use. Looking forward to seeing you both when you get home...
