Today I had blood draws, my platelets continue to climb slowly and the other numbers are short of normal, but not bad. I think if you ask anyone who knows me, short of normal fits. Now the latest and greatest health issue is shingles. The rollercoaster is going down again. I have the rash and I feel like someone has a knife in my kidney and twists it every time I move. I was put on Acyclovir, which will screw up my blood and liver counts but shorten the pain/flare up.
So I had a choice, family medical leave basically without pay because I used all my paid sick time, or I can retire early, squeak by on a very small pension, and maybe have less health issues by having less stress. Bye bye work! The odds of long term survival are not all that great for this disease and the treatment, so I think this is the best way to go. I am very fortunate that this is even a possibility for me.
My eyes have improved slightly, the opto doc put me on steroid drops three times a day and told me to use single dose type eye drops because the bottle of eye drops contain preservatives which hinder healing. I still have mornings where it takes ten minutes before I can see properly because of all the junk clouding my lens. I will post soon as I will be getting more lab results and we are looking at a dog that needs a good home. Betty will make this decision as I would rather have two dogs than four. Pookie is 17 years old and has minor health issues that will catch up to him eventually, and Micky and Boss are healthy and younger. The one we are looking at is a little dog that 2 years old and a spayed female. I'll post when, oops, if we get him. (I think it's a done deal)
God Bless,
Scott
Thanks a lot for sharing. You have done a brilliant job. Your article is truly relevant to my study at this moment, and I am really happy I discovered your website. However, I would like to see more details about this topic. I'm going to keep coming back here.

Hi Scott, I've been following your blog as well. My husband had his SCT in early April. It seems to never to be over with one issue after another doesn't it? You have a great attitude and am glad you are able to give up the 9 to 5 business and enjoy what "Ups" you have!
