The nurse just came in to give Scott his Chemo...what the....so both Scott and I either misunderstood or completely blocked the fact that on day 1,3,6 and 11 he will get another chemo to help the stem cells engraft and surpress his immune system. I was alarmed...Scott thought it meant the chemo did not work...it is a "push" meaning the nurse injects it manually. Only takes a few minutes, and the nurse said most people won't have any side effects...
On a lighter note, here is a cute picture of Mickey Joe going to his first prom with Lauren (Cindy's daughter)
Day +1 and nothing new. Blood counts are dropping but still high enough that I don't need red blood or platelets yet. I still feel ok, just tired. I started riding the bike in the morning because every time I went to walk the rounding doctors and their rolling laptops were in the way. This hospital now requires that each patient has to wear a plastic gown and gloves whenever you leave the room. That meant I had a sheet of plastic on me while riding the bike. VERY uncomfortable. I asked if I could take the own off while on the bike and the MD said no. One of the nurses told me to just spint te gown around and sit on top of it and pull the arms off while riding, that works much better. I'm really not trying to sweat off any weight here. The calendar says efects of the low blood counts and chemo will hit around Sunday. This time that should last a couple of weeks tops instead of the four weeks last time. My beautiful bride is out walking with her sister, it's about 70 degrees at 0900 hrs.
God Bless,
Scott

Waiting, waiting, waiting to see what happens next seems to be a recurrent theme in AML :-( I am such a controller and am so impatient, I have a lot to learn before I get where you are. I hope your next 2 weeks are the beginning of a renewed life for you, and that they will not offer any new challenges.
ReplyDeleteSending good karma your way...
Scott and Betty, you are in our thoughts and prayers and we hope all goes well with your new stem cells.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the days you feel good, i am glad you are biking. There was a lot of flooding in Manitowoc, the Frisbee golf course was under water and the dogs had a blast, there were ducks and swans on our regular path. The ants were flooded out of their homes and were clinging to anything floating. Very gross because there were baseball size blob of them. Well now that I have grossed everyone out I shall sign off. Love and prayers, Cindy
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thinking of you... Oh, and can I borrow Mickey sometime when I need a date?
