Day 12, I am getting platelets again, my other counts are bottomed and my hemoglobin is good because I got two units of red blood yesterday. Mouth and throat pain are worse. I'm on IV nutrition now because I can barely swallow. My face is turning red and I'm blistering under my eyes. Still this is way better than last time. Two more days or so and we should see some positive activity in the bonemarrow:) Once that starts all these other issues will start to clear up. I don't know what I would do without the morphine taking the edge off the mouth and throat pain. I can't wait untill I'm producing my own blood again.

if morphine isn't managing the pain well for you or has side affects (like a headache, etc.) try Fetinol. I had great success with that one. the downside to pain meds, I don't remember much that was talked about or what visitors came. its all a blur. but it beats being in any pain anyday. you're doing great Scott!!! like Betty said most people in their lifetime could never imagine or experience the side affects and misery one experiences going through this, but you and I both know its all worth it in a short while when your body heals itself from the war. i can tell that like me you will find some sort of joy in each day of this experience even if its for a brief bit like your favorite nurse walks in, watching a movie, playing the wii, holding hands with Betty, etc.
