Labs
My labs were ok, my blood counts were down a little, but I did expect that with starting exjade. My liver profile was ok, which means I can handle the meds I am currently taking and the exjade. Bye Bye Iron!! Things are really going well. I wish everyone that is recovering from a stem cell transplant would have it this easy. I know very well things could be a lot worse. I always appreciated all my blessings, but this was a very special thanksgiving for me. I can now eat most anything I want, even though a good portion of my food doesn't taste right. I can now go to the gym without too much concern for infection. I joined Planet fitness so I could workout in Manitowoc right after work and in Green Bay on off days because Green Bay is closer. There are so many people still struggling with blood cancers and other cancers, please remember to pray for all of them.
God Bless,
Scott

Scott and Betty,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story.
My 52yo husband is scheduled for a stem cell transplant next week. Our marathon started Sept. 2012 with an acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis. Only then did we realize his previous 2.5 year roller coaster wbc and platelet counts were MDS.
I appreciate your openness and candor while writing your blog. Reading it has helped me in so many ways. Your words not only brought me peace, but also helped me to see that your loving marriage, your determination to beat leukemia, and your love of God are what helped you get through the trying times. I take these things with me during the next phase of our roller coaster ride.
Please know that your words have made a difference in our very scary world.
Blessings,
Sarah
